Last season on ‘Love Hip Hop’, rapper Remy Ma opened up about her struggles with fertility. Well now the Bronx native has developed a plan for women who have a similar struggle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In an interview with Essence, Remy spoke on the high costs of fertility treatments and how often times, insurance companies will not assist with the costs. It is because of this that Remy has decided to create a fund that will provide women with fertility issues, the opportunity to seek alternative medical methods such as in vitro fertilization. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When speaking about her own miscarriage, Remy said, “First I was distraught, I was embarrassed, I was ashamed; I felt less than a woman and [the doctor] assured me that was no way to feel and that for a certain amount of thousands of dollars, it can be fixed. And because I have the finances, I never even thought twice about it.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“It’s just weird to me that if you want to terminate a pregnancy, you could use your health insurance; however, if you wanted to conceive, health insurance doesn’t cover that.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Though the odds seem to be stacked against Remy and women like herself, through this fund she hopes to encourage women to keep trying. She and her husband Papoose have decided to try for another baby. They plan to try through in vitro fertilization.
