The prosecution has argued that justice Lennox Campbell was correct in his decision to dismiss a member of the jury despite complaints from the defence.

According to Jeremy Taylor, the senior deputy director of public prosecutions, the presiding judge was absolutely correct in dismissing a female juror from the case as was placed in precautious position.

Last week, attorneys representing Shawn Storm complained that the entertainer was not in the judge’s chambers when the decision to discharge the juror was taken and argued that this was a breach of his right to a fair trial.

However, prosecutors say the juror was only discharged after expressing concerns about the safety of her son who was also housed the Horizon Remand Centre where Vybz Kartel and his co-accused were being housed.

The woman indicated that she had become fearful after she was seen by at least one of co-accused while visiting her son at the maximum security facility. She claims her son also told her that he was approached by Vybz Kartel.

Taylor went on to point out that no objections were made by the defence towards the juror’s dismissal at any time during the trial.

Vybz Kartel and his Co-accused Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St John are currently before the court appealing their convictions for the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams.
