The prosecution has hit back at the defense’s arguments surrounding the timeframe of a damning text message taken from Vybz Kartel’s phone.

According to Assistant Director of Public Prosecution, Orrett Brown, there is a “misapprehension” on behalf of the defense as to when the text message was actually created.

The prosecutor hit back claiming that it was actually the folder containing the message that was created on July 6, not the actual message. He claims that the damning “chop up fine, fine” text was indeed created on August 19.

Vybz Kartel Appeal: Lawyers Say Police Investigations Were “Loose” In Murder Case

The defense had earlier presented fresh metadata evidence suggesting that the damning text had been created 6 weeks before the alleged date of Clive “Lizard” Williams’ killing.

The case is set to continue next week with further submissions from the Director of Public Prosecution, Jeremy Taylor as to why the deejay and his three co-accused should not be freed.

Vybz Kartel was sentenced to life and will have to serve 35 years in prison before becoming eligible for parole unless he can overturn his conviction.
