The Chinese woman seen slapping a teenage girl for allegedly stealing from her grocery store has apologized to the child.

The 53-year-old Chinese national, Yuemei Pan, made a public apology to the child after she was visited by Dancehall entertainer Mr Vegas and several members of the Clarks Town community in Trelawny on Monday.

Pan was seen on camera apologizing to the teenaged girl who she reportedly slapped over allegations of stealing from her store. The two would later be seen sharing a hug in a picture.

According to Mr Vegas, he was the one who actually suggested that Pan apologized to the child on camera as the initial incident which sparked public outrage among social media users had left the child embarrassed.

Vegas went on to explain that a recorded apology was also necessary for Pan to show she was genuinely remorseful, as many Jamaicans had cast judgement upon her despite the matter being dealt with in court.

Pan was arrested earlier this month after a viral video of her slapping the teen for allegedly stealing an item in a store she operated appeared on social media.

The Chinese national was last week freed of all charges after no evidence was offered in court.
