Lisa Hyper has offered her opinion on the disparity between male and female artists in the Dancehall Industry.
According to the former Gaza first lady, female artists are just as talented as their male counterparts but they need to start demanding their respect and stop begging it from industry players.
The “Ruff It Up” deejay says that her philosophy is to demand attention and not sit back and wait for it to be given to her. She believes that now more than ever it is truly time for women to take charge and exceed expectations within the culture.
According to Hyper, all female artists really need is a good management structure, highlighting the recent successes of Shenseea and international sensation Hoodcelebrity, who gained popularity overseas.

The Dancehall star also revealed that she offered several management deals but remains hesitant until the right offer comes along.
Lisa Hyper, who was previously signed to Vybz Kartel’s Adidjahiem label until 2009, says she started her own record label, Gyal Tuff Records, “which I signed myself to so that when a bigger company comes along, they will not have total control” of her work and rights to her music.
The deejay says she is fully confident her time is coming and that the groundwork she is doing now will ultimately pay off in the long run.
Lisa Hyper was recently tipped for big things in 2018 by seasoned journalist Winford Williams, who claims the deejay is on the verge of making a massive splash on the Dancehall scene once again.
