Opposition spokesperson on Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Lisa Hanna has apologised for her horrendous blunder, which claimed that a St Lucian diplomat had tragically died in the Las Vegas shooting earlier this week.
The politician was left embarrassed after releasing an official statement in reaction to a fake news story claiming that St Lucia’s Ambassador to the Organisation of American States, Anton Edmunds, had died during the massacre that claimed the lives of 59 people.

The fiasco seems particularly messy for Hanna, as she was only recently assigned to the post for the People’s National Party (PNP), and had to be corrected by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the incident.
On Wednesday the PNP issued a statement revealing that Hanna had spoken to Edmunds, sending her good wishes to him and his family, and expressed relief that he was, in fact, safe and in good health.
According to the PNP Hanna also apologised for the ill-advised statements once it became clear that the information presented from a usually reliable source proved to be incorrect.
