Lawyers representing dancehall artiste Tommy Lee have labelled police as ‘irresponsible’ after listing their client as a person of interest in relation to a shooting incident.

Tommy Lee, whose real name is Leroy Russell, was listed as a person of interest in relation to a shooting on Saunders Avenue, Kingston 2. A directive was issued for the prominent dancehall artiste to surrender himself to the Elletson Road Police Station at 16 Lower Elletson Road, before July 4.

However, according Russell’s lawyer Ernest Smith these actions were very ‘irresponsible’ and inconsiderate on behalf of the authorities. Smith claims that no attempt was made to contact Tommy Lee, his management, or his legal representatives at anytime.
According to Smith Tommy Lee knows absolutely nothing about the alleged incident, and doesn’t even know the area in question.
Smith went on to say that authorities know all of Tommy Lee’s addresses, they have all his contact numbers so why not contact him before putting in a public domain.
The lawyer claims that the ‘irresponsible’ declarations are damaging his clients image, and putting several of his international engagements in jeopardy.
Smith says his client has been ready and willing to turn himself over for questioning, however several attempts to contact authorities at the Elletson Road Police Station have went unanswered.
