Fast-food giants KFC were forced to close hundreds of stores in the United Kingdom over the weekend as German delivery supplier DHL left them short on supplies of chicken.

The US fast-food chain was forced to close 700 of its 900 stores across the UK over the weekend while offering downsized menus and shorter opening hours in the remaining restaurants.

“We’ve brought a new delivery partner onboard, but they’ve had a couple of teething problems — getting fresh chicken out to 900 restaurants across the country is pretty complex,” KFC said in a statement.

According to KFC officials, they decided to close operations in many of their stores as they refused to compromise the quality of their product.

DHL has since issued a statement ensuring that they are working hard to resolve the issue.
