Veteran Recording artiste Jimmy Cliff is enjoying international success after his smash hit single Many Rivers To Cross was featured in the finale of Marvel’s Daredevil on popular American streaming service Netflix, 48 years after its release.

Since then the YouTube views for the single has surged, according to Cliff, the response on social media has been wonderful especially with the millennial generation. The singer added that he is grateful that the track is now reaching new demographics. Netflix has over 40.9 million subscribers across the world.

Penned by Cliff when he was 21-years-old, Many Rivers To Cross was released in 1969, “It came to me at a point in time when I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel to where I’m going, which is common on each person’s journey of life. That’s why this song resonates with everyone and endures, thus it being in TV and movies. It’s a good feeling to be touching the lives of generations to generations,” he said.

The Leslie Kong-produced single was the official sound track for his 1972 movie, The Harder They Come and has since been featured in other films including Rush in 2013 and television shows such as Wilfred and Falling Skies. The single has also been covered by many big names including Harry Nilsson, John Lennon, Joe Cocker, Percy Sledge, UB40 and Cher.
