Jamaican author, journalist and filmmaker Barbara Blake Hannah is in hot water following her comments about Serena Williams.

In responding to a “It’s very weird for me to believe, I have a child. A Kid. I’m a Mom, a real Mom.” tweet made by the tennis superstar on Monday night, Blake Hannah said Williams should quit tennis to focus on being a month for her daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.

“Congrats on becoming a Mom, now be a real mother and stay home with your baby. Quit Tennis while you are a winner and give your daughter a mother,” Blake Hannah wrote.

Despite receiving heavy backlash for her comments, Barbara still stood her ground stating that she believes “there is a growing age when the growing child needs Mom, and 3 months maternity leave is not enough, but 5-7 years would be ideal.”

Blake Hannah added that Williams doesn’t need to play tennis forever because she has money and has a rich husband. She suggested that Serena should focus on not only raising her child and perhaps building a tennis school to inspire black girls.
