At least 100 people have been murdered in Jamaica since the start of the new year.

The latest statistics from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) revealed that about 100 murders were recorded on the island up to Saturday, January 20, a rate of five per day.

The devastating figure is 13 more than the number of murders recorded for the corresponding period last year.

According to reports, both the St Catherine North and Clarendon police divisions have each recorded 13 murders while nine were recorded in St Andrew South.
