Tommy Lee Sparta’s lottery scamming trial was adjourned for the sixth time when the matter was heard in court on Monday by Justice Chester Stamp.

The latest postponement came after Ernest Smith, the attorney for Gothic Dancehall entertainer, real name Leroy Russell and his co-accused O’Brian Smith, indicated, through another lawyer, that he was engaged in another trial in St Elizabeth.

Justice Stamp was forced to set a new trial date for November 14.

Tommy Lee Sparta was detained by law enforcement officers for two weeks last month, making it the fifth time Sparta was taken into custody in the past two years.

Sparta along with three others, were charged jointly in February 2014 with suspected breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transaction) (Special Provisions) Act, 2013. The case has been going on since 2016 with no ending in sight.

In June 2017, he was questioned and subsequently released by members of the Elleston Road Police Station about a shooting in the division. In January that same year, former head of the St James Police division, Senior Superintendent Marlon Nesbeth listed the artiste as a person of interest in relation to crime in sections of Flanker in St James.
