Dancehall artists are being warned to control their entourages.

Top Jamaican acts are being heavily scrutinized for the actions of their respective entourages following the alleged assault of a Dancehall selector by Aidonia’s crew for playing a Masicka diss track.

The criticism stems from the recent incident where popular disc jock “Rolex” claims he was physically assaulted by several members of Aidonia’s 4th Genna crew for playing a Masicka diss track at a event.

Several disc jocks have since voiced complaints that artists often turn up to events with large entourages that they can’t control. They say these followers often try to intimidate disc jocks into playing the music they want to hear.

However, according to controversial disc jock, Foota Hype, artists should not always be completely held accountable for these incidents. He claims that “Sometimes these followers of the artistes or fans of the artistes tend to take up things inna dem own hands because dem want the artiste hear inna di morning say dem loyal to the ting and dem a defend the thing a road. Some man don’t even have a number for the artiste enuh, so you can’t even blame the artiste dem too much and say dem nah do enough because it hard fi control.”

Since the incident several disc jocks have reportedly threatened to go on a strike, if artists don’t assume control over the actions of their followers.
