The Dancehall/Reggae industry is currently mourning the death of DJ Niko of Chromatic Sound.

The popular selector passed away on Tuesday following a long battle with kidney disease.

Following the devastating news, several Dancehall entertainers including Popcaan, Chi Ching, Ding Dong Ravers, Tifa and Tommy Lee Sparta took to social media to send their condolences.

“We lost a real family yesterday but God knows best,” Popcaan wrote. “You make us all proud while you was with us we will continue the dream that we all believe in from chromatic /// unruly // chromatic 1team 1 dream my scheme,” the ‘Unruly Boss’ continued.

Chi Ching uploaded a video to his Instagram story shedding tears, and wrote ” My G Niko Chromatic me haffy drop a tear bro… Jah kno bro.”

“R.I.P BREDDA BREDDA YUH FIGHT DI FIGHT ?????????????? JAH KNOW TOO YOUNG,” Ding Dong said.

While Tifa wrote, “Rest well???” and Tommy Lee Sparta added, “Sleep well bro jah know.”

DJ Niko Chromatic, whose real name is Nicholas Grant, was diagnosed with renal failure back in 2015 and over the past two years, his health has been on a steady decline.

Last year a Gofundme account was created to raise funds USD $50,000 for the dancehall disc jockey to get life-saving treatment for his illness overseas.

A large portion was generated last year November from the staging of a charity event dubbed “Dancehall for a Cause” held at the Triple Century Car Park in New Kingston.

The concert attracted a huge turnout of supporters, including dancehall artistes like Tommy Lee Sparta, Vershon, Dexta Daps, and Bugle.

DJ Niko Chromatic was expected to undergo a kidney operation in Cuba a few months ago after he was given the green light from a kidney donor.

Niko, along with Warren “Creep” Lee of Chromatic, began producing mixtapes in 2005 and started the sound system shortly after.
