Dalton Harris has successfully navigated his way into the top next round of the popular British talent competition X Factor.
The Jamaican crooner managed to claim one of the final ten spots of the competition after Sunday’s tense results show which saw voting being relegated to 14 minutes following a technical glitch during Saturday’s performance show.
Despite being visibly nervous Harris was the fifth contestant chosen overall, following yet another impressive performance on Saturday night with his rendition of Radiohead’s “Creep.”
Also in the top ten are his fellow Boys Teammates Anthony Russell and Brendan Murray; Shan Ako, Bella Penfold, and Scarlette Lee from the Girls Team; Danny Tetley and Gio Spano from The Overs; and Misunderstood and Acacia & Aaliyah.
The contestants who didn’t make the cut after being left in the bottom two include quintet United Vibe and Molly Scott.
Harris’ popularity continues to grow throughout the competition, as is his studio recording of “Creep” has shot up iTunes Top 100 charts, peaking at number 34, the highest of any of the contestants.
The Jamaican managed to impress judges and voters alike following his rendition of the 1993 rock classic while appearing in white hair and matching contact lenses to celebrate the Halloween theme.
He earned him another standing ovation from all the judges, including Simon Cowell who declared “Dalton, you are literally killing it every week. I mean you were amazing week 1, week 2 — this is probably the best you’ve sounded so far. And I was thinking while I was watching this, it was almost like maybe you needed this platform but, trust me, we needed you on the show because this is what it’s all about… I mean stunning. That was stunning.”
The singer will now progress to next Saturday’s live performance, with the theme being centered around movies.
