A white University of Hartford student has been arrested after she bragged about deliberately torturing her Jamaican roommate.
Brianna Rae Brochu was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of peace on Saturday for bullying her university roommate, Chennel “Jazzy” Rowe.
The 18-year-old was brought into custody after she revealed that she had been spitting in Rowe’s coconut oil, putting moldy clam dip in her lotions and rubbing used tampons on her backpack, “putting her toothbrush places the sun doesn’t shine” and “so much more” for over a month.
“Finally did it yo girl got rid of her roommate!!” Brochu wrote on Instagram “I can finally say goodbye Jamaican Barbie.”
According to Rowe, she was unaware of Brochu’s actions as she only discovered the posts while she moving out of the room. Rowe says she was moving out because her roommate made her feel unwanted.
In Facebook live session on Monday Rowe shared her story, revealing pictures Brochu uploaded online including a photo of her backpack showing the blood stains she allegedly added.
Rowe says her roommate’s actions made her sick. She described suffering unexplainable “extreme throat pain” while living with her roommate.
Social media users have since launched the hashtag #JusticeForJazzy in support.
