The Office of the Children’s Advocate has voiced their strong disapproval towards the actions of a mother who was seen beating her daughter mercilessly with a machete in a viral video on social media.
The group have condemned the actions of the mother, who has since been arrested, as inhumane and excessive.
According to Child Advocate Diahann Gordon, regardless of the fact that the parent may feel justified in reprimanding the child, the violent nature of the punishment was totally unacceptable.

The viral footage caused widespread public outrage on social media after it depicted a visibly frustrated mother viciously beating her young daughter with a machete during a incident in Bath, St Thomas in November 2016.
Gordon went on to praise the quick response of law enforcement officials, who have since arrested the woman just hours after the video began circulating on social media.
