The Tropixs Latest Trending News Entertainment

Local promoters are already rubbing their hands in anticipation of Buju Banton’s December release date from prison in the United States after it was revealed that the entertainer is set to perform his first show in Trinidad & Tobago.

Earlier this week Reggae fans were received some good news as it was confirmed that the superstar would be making his first live performance after his release from prison in the twin-island republic on April 22, 2019.

According to several local promoters, they are certainly looking to book the Reggae superstar following his release but emphasized that the timing and circumstances would be two crucial factors.

Veteran promoter GT Taylor revealed that the deejay was scheduled to perform at his staple event GT Extravaganza in 2009 but was arrested just weeks before the event.

GT says that sources have told him that the entertainer will not be taking any live performance bookings immediately after his release, but he would be overjoyed to welcome the deejay on his stage in the future after he is settled.

Another seasoned promoter, Tony Rebel, who host the annual Rebel Salute concert, says he is far more concerned with the deejay’s well-being than when he may choose to perform as 10 years in prison is no simple task and he will need time to recover mentally.

Buju Banton is currently completing a nine-year sentence at the McRae Correctional Facility in Georgia for a drug conviction. He is scheduled to be released on December 8.
