The Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica says they are not responsible for the catalog of new music from Popular Entertainer Vybz Kartel being played on the radio and television since his incarceration.
Following Opposition Spokesperson on Youth and Culture, Lisa Hanna, recent suggestion to ban the self-proclaimed “Worl Boss,” the commission says there are no laws preventing Vybz Kartel from releasing new music and airing them on the airwaves.

The agency however added that Department of Correctional Services is the appropriate authority to determine whether Kartel is allowed to produce music in custody, “To be clear, as it concerns convicts, their privilege or ability to create music whilst incarcerated is governed by correctional rule,” the commission said in a press release.
The Commission also disclosed that they had a meeting with the Ministry of National Security and Commissioner of Corrections in July last year to discuss the issue of Vybz Kartel allegedly recording music in prison and the matter is currently under investigation.
