Dancehall veteran Bounty Killer has sensationally claimed that former protege Mavado only went to war with Vybz Kartel because he wanted his fame.

For years fans had theorized that Mavado was simply defending his mentor and fellow Alliance members during the infamous Gully/Gaza war but according to Bounty Killer this was not the case.

According to the veteran deejay, Mavado took it upon himself to the beef with Vybz Kartel in the late 2000’s because he was envious of the deejay’s success and saw it as an opportunity to gain his level of popularity.

“How him fi defend my war when he took sh*t on his own head,” Bounty said. “Ask him if I ever told him to go take on Kartel he wants Kartel fame so he wants to defeat Kartel I never stop him but it was his idea not mine but each times I post Kartel you had a Vado jealousy.”

The entertainer’s claims do seem to have some validity as Vybz Kartel was at that time considered as the hottest Dancehall artist, while Mavado and Busy Signal were seen as talents on the rise.

Bounty Killer made the claim during a recent Instagram rant were he lashed out against his former protege following comments from a fan questioning why he openly supports Vybz Kartel and not Mavado on his social media.

The deejay would go on to brand his former protege as ungrateful and “selfish” in the lengthy rant.
