The body of an elderly man who was washed away in the Cassava Piece area in St Andrew last Thursday has been found in Sandy gully.
William Marshall, a 79-year-old labourer was reportedly washed away in a section of the Cassava Piece gully while cutting and gathering tree branches to burn coal.
According to reports, the man was standing in the gully when a raging body of water, which was caused by a heavy downpour of rainfall in the neighbouring Mannings Hill area, came along and washed him away.
The incident comes on the heels of a would be tragedy, where a 12-year-old boy narrowly escaped death after he was rescued by a 24-year-old man, Tremayne Brown, after he was washed away in Trench Town gully.
