An alleged car thief was shot in the face by the owner in Hanover on Monday.

According to reports, about 10:30 am the owner of a black Toyota Corolla motor car left the engine running outside his business place in Haddington of the parish.

Shortly after he reportedly saw a man entering the vehicle and ran out to stop him and was allegedly stabbed. The owner of the vehicle, who is licensed firearm holder then discharged two rounds into the car.

The man drove away but was intercepted along the Point main road in Lucea by police officers on duty.

He was taken to the Noel Holmes Hospital where he was admitted.
