Alkaline is letting fans know that his Reggae Sumfest 2017 will be safe this summer.

The Dancehall artist’s performance in Brixton last month was cancelled by promoters citing public safety after hundreds of Vendetta fans broke into the O2 Academy after they refused to pay for tickets.

In a statement released last week on his official website Alkaline Music, the “Champion Boy” deejay apologised to his fans.

“We apologize to all our fans who came out to see Alkaline at the O2 Brixton Academy,” the statement read.

“It was an unfortunate situation, as the artiste himself was disappointed, he was ready to perform for his fans.”

“However, as a result of failure to control the crowd, and the assessment of potential damages, the event could not go on and for this we apologize to the fans and all who were affected as a result.”

The incident follows a stampede at the National Stadium car park for his Magnum ‘New Rules’ performance in Jamaica earlier this year which marked his return to local soil after a three year hiatus.

However according to Reggae Sumfest organisers there will not be a repeat of those incidents during Alkaline’s performance at this year’s show as security and crowd control is their top priority.

“We have no concerns in that department. We are fully organised when it comes to crowd control,” organiser Robert Russell said.

“We have had bigger artistes than Alkaline perform in the past, and we have never had any such issues. There are several gates where patrons will be allowed to enter from, and we have always had adequate security at our event. Plus, our venue can accommodate the crowd that is expected to turn up,” he added.

According to sources close to the “Badness It Name” deejay, Alkaline is already preparing his Reggae Sumfest set as he wants to give his fans a performance of a lifetime.
