Jamaican national Yanique Coach, who pleaded guilty to being an accomplice to mail fraud has been sentenced to 12 months in prison for her role in defrauding an elderly Virginian woman out of US$282,000.

The 25-year-old pleaded guilty to ‘scamming’ an elderly Virginia woman out of $282,000 in a elaborate mail fraud scheme, which also involved Jamaican law student Teresa Wilson and American citizen Dwayne Breary.

Coach was sentenced to 12 months and a day in a Florida prison on Thursday, and was also ordered along with boyfriend Breary make restitution to the victim.
The young Jamaican received a lighter sentence as she along with Breary agreed to take a plea deal.

The accused head of the scheme Teresa Wilson has pleaded not guilty to the charges against her and will head to trial.
