Security forces have revealed that approximately 200 persons have already been detained since a state of emergency was declared by Prime Minister Andrew Holness for the parish of St James last Thursday.

According to police reports, the authorities have detained 197 persons over a period of three days following operations in several communities such as Flanker, Norwood, Glendevon and Salt Spring.

Cops say of that number 8 persons have been arrested in connection with the brazen incident along the Sunset Boulevard last week, which left one man dead and two others injured.

Investigators say they expect the persons detained in relation to that matter to be charged later this week.

Cops say of the 197 detained in the first three days 111 still remain in police custody as they determine if charges will be brought against them.

The state of emergency was declared by Prime Minister Andrew Holness last week Thursday following an increased number of murders, shootings, and the prevalence of lawlessness within the parish.
